Opravdoví / The Real Ones – 2019 Czech Tour

2020-01-28T00:03:57+00:00

Opravdoví / The Real Ones which premiered in 2018 at Moving Station, Pilsen and UFFO, Trutnov (both in the Czech Republic) will be toured this November across four more cities.  To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that a networked performance has played consecutively across different locations in a short period of time.  It is a test of new distributed systems technology for networked performance, logistic and artistic processes that we have endeavored to perfect since the premiere in 2019.  Thanks to an early-October residency at the most welcoming Městské divadlo Varnsdorf, we will also [...]

Living Structures – Work In Progress

2020-01-17T20:23:19+00:00

Fresh out of the studios after another 3 weeks working with the amazing team from Living Structures on their latest immersive theatre piece.  Can't say too much about the project at present except that it uses a lot of structural components, many projectors and a series of challenging projection mapping scenarios.  Working as digital artist and systems integrator Studio Biscoe developed a rapid prototyping platform to quickly test and experiment with a wide range of visual and audio content, mapped through multiple projectors onto a complex sequence of moving surfaces, along with sound, light and effects control.

Man Engine Moving @ Inland Art Festival

2020-01-17T20:23:19+00:00

Tomorrow, Saturday 22 October, as a key component of the Inland Art Festival in Redruth Cornwall, pleased to announce a live video installation that symbolically examines the mechanism employed by miners used to reach the tin below Redruth. The Man Engine was an ingenious method to travel below but one that was inherently dangerous as can be recalled from the nearby disaster at Levant mine in 1919, abstractly depicted in Peter Lanyon’s 1953 work St. Just. The installation and live performance will projection map the underside of one of the massive arches of the Redruth viaduct on the Penzance to London main [...]

Arts Council England funding for innovative dance/art research

2020-01-17T20:23:19+00:00

Very pleased to announce funding award by Arts Council England to StudioBiscoe for full research and development of an innovative dance and visual arts project with dancer and choreographer Jana Bitterova. Having already sketched some original concepts for the improvised interaction of visual art (conveyed in the performance context through multiple-surface projection mapping) and dance art this funding enables full development of the Biscoe Bitterova Project. Through a series of workshops we will seek to understand and develop a semiotic approach to communication between artists in light and movement.  The results of the research will be shared online and with [...]

2015-11-04T21:58:25+00:00

First few days completed in studio with dancer/choreographer Jana Bitterova investigating improvised movements between dance and live visualisation -  exploring the performative possibilities of dynamic light, shape and form as a method of communication between the dance artist in one world and the visual artist in another world.

2020-01-17T20:23:20+00:00

Following a request from Krzysztof Bobinski, Co-chair of the EaP CSF Steering Committee, during  our attendance at the Eastern Partnership Culture Congress in Lviv, Studio Biscoe has proposed the establishment of a micro-investment fund for artists in the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus) together with a multi-language website which would allow artists in these countries to communicate ideas and developments with each other and with the rest of the world. See the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum There is a desperate need for such EU support of artist development in the Eastern Partnership  countries. A little cleverly [...]
